=======================

This is a pain in the ass, if you have bootcamp just do that…that being said though lol here’s an unedited look at how to get Hakchi running and working properly on OSX.

heres what I used to figure this out

Ok so the initial guide was good but it was missing a few things that could keep you stuck so I decided to revamp it and provide a video. The video will be the entire process of how to get VM working on your Mac, installing it, getting hakchi working, & last but not least flashing a custom kernel over so you can play games.

Shout outs to /r/acuster25 for the initial write up.

It’s a very clear and detailed guide, and I won’t recreate it here, but essentially the steps are:
1. Install Virtualbox
2. Install the Virtualbox extension pack
3. Download the free Windows VM for Virtualbox download, heads up it’s 4gb and import the “.ovf” file into Virtualbox
4. Enable the USB port in Virtualbox Settings Ports Enable USB Controller USB 2.0 EHCI Controller
5. Open the Virtualbox USB settings Settings Ports
Next to the “USB Device Filters” box, click the icon of a USB cable with a “+” sign.
6. You should see “Nintendo Co., Ltd CLV-S-SNSY” or similar as an option. Select it!
7. Turn off your SNES
8. Now put it into FEL mode. To do this, hold Reset, then flip the Power on, and a few seconds later i count to 4 release Reset. The power light should not be on.
9. You should see “Onda unverified V972 tablet in flashing mode” as an option. Add this one to your USB settings, too, then save your changes click “OK”.

Start the VM!

Log in pro-tip: the password is “Passw0rd!”
Download hakchi from Clusters github I use the debug version so I can check for errors if any
Download the 3.5 net Framework, google it. You need it for Hakchi to run
Unzip your hakchi folder to your desktop
Here’s the most important part! goto the driver folder and right click on the nes_mini_driver.exe. Run as administrator. If this acts up open Hakchi press on install that should make the cmd prompt stop crashing
Flash the custom kernel over to your SNES
After thats done, pause the VM. Go to the USB Filters again and add the nintendo one again, so youll have 2 nintendo filters and one Onda one. Reason being for this is the VM wont see the SNES after the custom kernel is installed
Use Hakchi like normal now!

I must stress again, if you can just bootcamp….just do that instead lol It’s a lot easier. My iMac has 12 gigs of ram and you can see how slow this process was.
